BooxDay

Why it is free

Short version: your BOOX is the best planning device ever made, and the best device deserves the best calendar. Putting a price tag between the two felt wrong.

Exhibit A: the BOOX is simply the best

Let us be honest about the competition.

And then there is the BOOX. A screen that looks like paper and is gentle on your eyes. A pen that feels like a pen. A battery that shrugs at days of use. Real Android underneath, so your calendars come along. No pings begging for attention. Just you, your day and a page waiting for ink.

It is the only device that is equally happy holding a novel, a sketch and your Thursday. That is not a gadget. That is a companion.

Exhibit B: the best deserves the best

A device this good should not be stuck with calendar apps made for glowing phone screens: animations that smear across e-ink, buttons sized for thumbs, and no idea what to do with a pen.

BooxDay was built the other way round, for the BOOX first. Handwriting lives right next to your calendar. Tasks get checked off with an actual stroke of the pen. Nothing flickers, nothing slides around, and everything is big enough to tap without aiming.

Exhibit C: a community, not a customer list

BooxDay started life as a paid app. Then something became obvious: the people who love their BOOX are not "users". They are a community of note-takers, list-makers, readers and planners who write in the margins of life.

So BooxDay is now free for everyone, and the code is open for anyone to read, improve and share under the GPL. No subscriptions. No "Pro" badge. No trial that ends on day 14. No ads, because the BOOX community deserves better than ads.

The verdict: the best device, the best calendar app, the best price. Zero.

So how can you pay it back?

You do not have to. If you want to, here are some ideas:
